South African Public Opinion On Trump VS Harris
This report investigates registered South African voters preferences for the next US president. The data in the report comes from a survey of 1 204 demographically and geographically representative registered voters conducted by the Foundation during September of 2024. That survey had a margin of error of 3%.

TENTATIVE CONCLUSIONS
A first insight from the data is that awareness of the American election on 5 November 2024 is at a relatively low level in South Africa. Of those South Africans who are aware of the election roughly a third would vote for Mr Trump and two-thirds for Ms Harris. Support for Mr Trump was higher amongst black South Africans than white South Africans with just under 40% of black South Africans, aware of the election, expressing the view that they would vote for Mr Trump compared to just over a third of white South Africans.
