Polling The Umkhonto Wesizwe Party In KwaZulu-Natal

This report investigates support for Umkhonto WeSizwe (MK) in KwaZulu-Natal. It does so via asking questions that test awareness and support for the party.

The data in the report comes from a February 2024 Foundation survey. The survey was conducted telephonically amongst a sample of 820 geographically and demographically representative registered voters in KwaZulu-Natal. It has a provincial margin of error of 5%. The data is not a forecast of future election results.

Tentative Conclusions

The data suggests that MK could secure upwards of 20% of the vote in KwaZulu-Natal and thereby reduce the ANC’s national vote share by in the region of 5 percentage points.
