Perceptions of Registered Voters in South Africa on whether the South African Government supports Russia in the Ukraine War.
This report examines two questions. The first is the opinion of registered voters in South Africa on whether the government supplied and loaded weapons onto the Russian cargo ship, Lady R. The second is whether the South African government broadly supports Russia in the Ukraine war. The report is based on a survey of 1412 geographically and demographically representative registered voters commissioned by the Foundation in October 2023. That survey had a national margin of error of 5%. Totals may not add up to 100% where respondents could not answer a question or where rounding has occurred.

Tentative Conclusion
The data reveals that just under a third of registered voters believed that weapons were loaded onto the Russian ship. Just over a third of voters said that they did not believe that weapons were loaded. A final third were undecided.
On the question of South Africa supporting Russia in the Ukraine war, voters were split essentially evenly on whether South Africa supports Russia in that war and there were again a substantial share of undecided voters.
